Picture this, a fresh snow layer after just dumping the night before, hot coffee in your thermos starting to cool down from being in there since 2 a.m., the sun starting to peak its face from behind the beautiful Montana mountains and there’s the track of the elusive mountain lion 10 feet in front of you.

The dogs are already in the back, adrenaline pumping we dump the dogs and you hear the majestic sound of the dogs blow up, waking up the rest of the woods, telling you it’s a hot one and they are going to put it in a tree for you. This is just a sliver of the amazing experience of hunting with hounds, not only are you hunting an apex predator, you are becoming one of the pack, hunting along side these hounds that wait all year for this. One of these 5 day hunts is an experience of a lifetime and a higher success rate than your typical deer or elk hunts. This type of hunt is quota regulated for male and female lions by the MT FWP and tags are over the counter for resident and non-resident hunters, so while the tag is easily accessible there might need to be some fair adjustments if our permitted hunting areas close due to quota. This means a different sex than you preferred might have to be hunted or a different area than what was planned. Whether or not our plans change our dogs won’t change their mind of hunting us a cat. These dogs have been trained since puppies to become the track finding, hard treeing, hunting machines that they are. You’ll find out fairly quickly these dogs each have their own personality and hunting style, as do most people. They are a part of our hunting family and are always open for another pack member. This is one of our specialized hunts; just as the dogs wait all year, we do as well and have 10+ years of experience. We invite you to become apart of our pack to explore the snowy backroads of Montana and find yourself looking up into the piercing eyes of a lion.

Note: Please contact your outfitter for the hound hunting photography experience - this add on is for chasing multiple game species with no harvest but definitely bring that camera!
