Bear Hunts

Everybody loves fall!  The changing of colors, the cooler weather, and not to mentions the bears.

They are starting to get into hibernation mode which means they’re everywhere. Whether they’re in the high mountains with the huckleberries or down low on the outskirts of town causing trouble with the trash cans. These animals are hungry and you’ll find one where there’s food. With them eating so much their body weight is tremendously larger than that in the spring, so you can count if you harvest a fall bear it’s gonna be a bruiser. Where we are hunting color phased black bears are extremely common, varying between black, chocolate, cinnamon, blonde, red, and everything in between. Not only is the size and color important but the meat can be very delectable, great for stews, pulled meat sandwiches and so much more.

Tags are super easy to get, they are over the counter for resident and non-resident hunters and our guides are prepared to search hard for that one of a kind bear!

Join us in this 5 day hunt to experience just one of the many Montana traditions we’ve come to love.

Note: this type of hunt is right in the middle of deer, elk, and Turkey season. Contact your outfitter to add on any of these amazing hunts

Spring Bear

This is one of the best ways to break that cabin fever you’ve had all winter long and cure that hunting itch.

This hunt is open to weapon of choice and over the counter tags. These hunts are 5 days and are in one of the most abundant amount of color-phased black bears in all of Montana.

Fresh out of hibernation these animals aren’t those heavyweights you’d find in the fall. But they make up for that with their hide quality.

We have black, brown, red, cinnamon, blonde, and a mixture in between colors offered here. All our hunts are currently spot and stalk only. You’ll spend time behind the glass of your optics looking at south facing slopes with fresh green grass popping up. The bears will be scavenging hillsides eating any food available including grass, bugs, roots, small game, and anything to fill their belly’s. Our guides will help get you right in with these bears. It’s not uncommon to see several per week.
